IAI was invited to participate and present at the official launch of the White house Climate Data Initiative workshop (http://climate.data.gov), that brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss how to best make this effort a long-term success. This initiative is a part of President Obama's 2013 Climate Action Plan and is intended to facilitate access to, and to understand climate-related data. The web site serves as an entry point to datasets and resources that make it easier for all stakeholders to access government-generated data, which in turn will fuel innovation in this area. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are two of the main driving forces behind this effort. IAI was invited to this event as a direct result of its successful work on a NOAA-funded effort focused on innovative visualization of storm surge inundation datasets in virtual city models created in a modern 3D gaming engine. This work will continue to be matured in a 2-year program that is expected to begin in August, 2014.
