IAI to work on developing an Agile Resilient Embedded System for Air Force.

Improving cyber security of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) has become crucial given their increased participation in critical missions, and their dependency on cyber resources. However, current fielded systems do not adequately secure UAS mission computers against cyber threats. To address this critical need, IAI and its collaborators propose to develop the Agile Resilient Embedded System (ARES) to improve embedded system security. ARES will help develop new security architecture for embedded systems and associated designs for each architecture module. A reference implementation of the ARES architecture will demonstrate its performance, and enable rapid prototyping. ARES design philosophy and capabilities can be extended to other UAS sub-systems, enabling secure mission computers and an open, secure, extensible architecture for application to more general cyber systems.
