Multi-vehicle communications systems (MVCS) provide a common data link and networking services between littoral combat ships (LCS) and unmanned vehicles including unmanned surface vehicles, unmanned underwater vehicles and remote multi-mission vehicles. MVCS has an open architecture that can be adapted to support any radio, but does not have an anti-jamming capability in Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communications. Current radios cannot provide high data rates greater than100 Kbps under significant jamming conditions of up to 20 dB jammer-to-signal power ratio. To address this, IAI will design a jamming-resistant waveform operating in the 18-35 MHz band to provide high data rates in the presence of strong jammers. This anti-jamming Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) compliant waveform will satisfy competing LCS unmanned vehicle BLOS communication requirements for high data rate and multiple nodes. JTRS-compliant waveforms will be implemented around open-standards architecture, called the Software Communications Architecture (SCA). Furthermore, the waveform will be implemented in software that can operate on any JTRS-compliant software defined radio (SDR), allowing it to be widely used in military and commercial applications including police, civil defense, search and rescue, and industrial use, wherever interference of critical communications a concern. In addition to the Software Defined Radio (SDR) market, JRHF has commercialization potential in the form of an IP core implementing the waveform on VHDL or Verilog.
