I ntelligent Automation’s Forensic Technology group develops and provides state of the art analysis tools to forensic laboratories and law enforcement agencies throughout the country. For over a decade now, Intelligent Automation Inc. has developed specialized systems for the automated imaging, acquisition and comparison of firearms, toolmarks and drug related forensic evidence. We have leveraged IAI’s extensive expertise in artificial intelligence together with the multi-disciplinary skills of its group members in signal and image processing, statistical data analysis, data visualization, sensor system integration, testing and metrology to drive the spirit of discovery and innovation.

Our endeavors have resulted in the effective use of 3D information from a bullet’s surface to improve the matching rate of automated search and retrieval systems. IAI has successfully developed a complete ballistics identification system. We have also partnered with Forensic Technology Inc. (FTI), a world leader in forensics and the manufacturers of IBIS, to market a new 3D-based ballistic analysis system called BulleTraxx™.

The Forensics group has worked with a number of government agencies such as the DOJ, FBI, USSS, NIST, NSF, NIH, and DEA and collaborated with several industry leaders including Forensic Technology Inc., and NanoFocus AG. Click on the links on this page to learn more about our forensic expertise.
