High school seniors visited the office to present about their Robotics department. Their presentation focused on their team composition and their “student-driven” mindset. Each students is encouraged to solve major problems themselves but to seek guidance from their mentors when they need it. Each year the students build a robot capable of completing that year’s chosen game. The chosen game is unveiled at the beginning of each season. In the past, the game has included Capture the Flag, Stack the Boxes, and Soccer. The teams have six weeks to complete the robot before they compete in district and regional competitions.
Many IAI employees mentor Montgomery Blair students on weekends and school nights during their build season. This presentation fostered communication between the students and new employees and allowed some students to explore our professional robotics lab.
