ROCKVILLE, Md. — Oct. 18, 2019 — Intelligent Automation, Incorporated (IAI), a technology innovation company, announced today that it has been awarded a follow-on contract by the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to continue to develop a customizable platform to deliver vestibular rehabilitation outside of a clinical environment. Vestibular rehabilitation programs have been showed to improve symptoms, such as dizziness, that occur after mTBI (concussions) or other head trauma.
In this contract, IAI will design a system to administer vestibular rehabilitation, which consist of a series of specific exercises that coordinate head and eye movements. Videos of patients performing the prescribed exercises will be available so clinicians can provide feedback on exercise performance. IAI’s system will use artificial intelligence (AI) to dynamically adapt rehab strategies to individual needs, which will improve the effectiveness of exercises and return individuals to duty more efficiently. The system will also be integrated with games which reward patients for adhering to the prescribed exercise program.
IAI’s digital healthcare team creates mobile apps and sensors to gather and analyze data from patients outside of the clinical setting. IAI’s technologies in medical informatics are used by researchers and practitioners to improve patient outcomes by monitoring patient performance, improving adherence, and providing timely interventions throughout a patient’s healthcare regimen.
“IAI is proud to be selected by DHA to create a vestibular rehabilitation system for service members recovering from head trauma,” said Vikram Manikonda, President and CEO of IAI.
