ROCKVILLE, Md. — Dec. 23, 2019 — Intelligent Automation, Incorporated (IAI), a technology innovation company, announced today that it has been awarded a Defense Health Agency (DHA) follow on contract to develop a tablet-based vestibular rehabilitation exercise support solution to assess patient performance.
In this contract, IAI will develop a solution to support military personnel recovering from head trauma by combining vestibular exercises with gamification strategies to motivate and engage patients throughout their therapy program. The app will use the tablet’s camera to monitor the patient’s compliance to exercises in real time. Compliance is determined by verifying the patient’s head movement speed is within prescribed parameters, and gaze fixation is maintained to a target.
Physical therapists (PTs) will have immediate access to patient data through a secure web portal. PTs can adjust prescriptions with individualized parameters, monitor patient exercise activity, and evaluate performance with both objective and subjective data.
IAI’s digital healthcare team creates mobile apps and sensors to gather data from patients outside of the clinical setting. This technology improves patient outcomes by monitoring patient performance, maximizing adherence, and providing timely interventions throughout a patient’s healthcare regimen.
