IAI Awarded U.S. Air Force Contract to Develop a Radio Networking Protocol Capable of High Throughput in the THz Band

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Jan. 21, 2020 — Intelligent Automation, Incorporated (IAI), a technology innovation company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force to develop link, transport, and protocol layers for high throughput protocols in the terahertz (THz) band.

In this contract, IAI will design and implement a network stack capable of dealing with the challenges of signal loss and intermittence of communicating at THz frequencies. IAI’s team will use networking strategies including beamforming, beam tracking, and alternate path finding, to establish a high throughput radio network. The protocol will be capable of delivering multi-gigahertz data throughput across multiple node networks.
