IAI Awarded USSOCOM Contract to Develop an Augmented Reality Planning Tool for Austere Environments

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Feb. 4, 2020 — Intelligent Automation, Incorporated (IAI), a technology innovation company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to develop an innovative planning tool for Special Operations Forces (SOF) operating in austere environments that can virtualize geo-referenced imagery into a 3D model. The tool will communicate with the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) and display situational awareness data through augmented reality.

In this contract, IAI will develop a solution that provides SOF personnel with a 3D virtual rendering of a potential objective area using geo-referenced imagery. The virtual rendering will be used to conduct a virtual walk through of the objective area for planning purposes. The virtual environment will allow operators to assign and place mission critical points of interest for display on ATAK networks.

“IAI is proud to have been selected by USSOCOM to support the development of mission planning tools with AR visualizations,” said Vikram Manikonda, President and CEO of IAI.

IAI builds immersive and informational interfaces to help users better understand the presented information and make better decisions. IAI creates serious games and AR/VR simulations to support education and training activities to improve user engagement.
