Working at IAI has been described as working in a technology incubator or graduate school research lab, with the unique opportunity to see your innovation go beyond the research environment, and transition to the real world, where it can make a difference! You get to work with a great group of intelligent electrical, mechanical, aerospace and computer engineers and scientists, physicists, mathematicians, cognitive scientists, and education and training specialists from the top universities, all brimming with knowledge and new ideas. The work atmosphere is casual and collaborative, and you are never lacking for resources to help you solve your problems. Based on the constant flow of new projects and contracts, the work can be incredibly varied or you can choose to stay focused on a particular technical area (whichever you find more rewarding and stimulating). Projects at IAI are always intellectually challenging and take advantage of the latest technologies and research developments.

While we work hard at IAI, we also look for every opportunity to celebrate. Seamlessly integrated into our way of life are the many non-work activities that bring employees (and their families) together to have fun and build life-long friendships. We have a long standing social committee that organizes and sponsors activities every month. Outings have included active and sporting events (like snow tubing, ice skating, trampoline park, indoor climbing, zip lining, and indoor soccer team), cultural and educational events (like the National Zoo, Kenilworth Gardens Lotus Festival, Luray Caverns, Maryland Renaissance Festival, and Smithsonian visits), and some are just for fun (like wine tastings, office Olympics, comedy shows, baseball games, game nights, and movie nights). For the latest, read our Community and Outreach Blog

In addition to the myriad of social activities throughout the year, IAI goes out of its way to celebrate the incredible ethnic and cultural diversity of its staff. About once a month, we gather for a festive meal celebrating US and international holidays like Chinese New Year, Persian New Year, Diwali, Mardi Gras, and Thanksgiving. IAI employees love sharing their heritage as witnessed by the frequent emails announcing sweets or special delicacies that people bring to work to celebrate their travels and holidays.
